Get Involved with DI

There are many ways that you can be involved in Destination Imagination in the MId-Cites region.

If you are interested in participating as a Team Member or a Team Manager then select the New to DI link.

 

 

If you would like to become a sponsor of Mid-Cites Destination Imagination contact the Regional Director, mary [dot] hadley [at] birdvilleschools [dot] net (Mary Hadley).

There are a number of ways that you can support Mid-Cities Creativity.  We depend almost 100% on volunteers to lead training sessions and conduct the Regional Tournament.   Please consider helping in one of the following capacities. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, sippean [at] verizon [dot] net (Stacy Wirick).

Appraisers

Appraisers experience the excitement and creativity of DI up close and personal. Their job is to award teams every point they are entitled to by their solution presentation. Appraisers must attend approximately 5 hours of training and must work the full day of the Regional Tournament.   Check the Calendar  for specific dates.

Every team is required to provide one person to work as an appraiser. Appraisers representing teams should register by December  Registration for appraisers representing teams are due by the first tuesday in December..

Parents of team members should not be appraisers because they will not be able to view their child's performance.

Appraiser registration is on-line at the main Texas DI Website.  Click the "Appraiser Registration" link below to complete the registration form. If you are serving as the representative Appraiser for a team please include the contact information for the Team Manager when you register.   This link is for new appraisers. 

New Appraiser Registration

This link is for appraisers who have never registered as an Appraiser at Texas DI.org

Returning Appraisers:  If you worked as an appraiser previoiusly and have an appraiser account on the Texas DI website you should go to www.texasdi.org and signon with your username and password (you can use your email address in lieu of your username.  Once you sign on you can click on Tournament Opportunities and select the Mid-Cities regional tournament.  Your contact information is carried forward so all you need to do is verify that information and make any selections for appraising preferences for this years tournament.

Check the Calendar for Training Locations and Dates.

New Appraisers need to arrive by 7:45.  Returning Appraisers need to arrive by 8:45

We will have continental breakfast items available starting at 7:30 am.

Training is scheduled to run till 1:00 pm although most sessions will be complete by 12:00

Tournament Helpers

Tournament Helpers take care of a multitude of tasks at the tournament. We need volunteers to monitor doors, run scores, deliver food and snacks to appraisers, sell concessions, work a photo booth, etc. Parents of team members can volunteer to help and will work a 2 hour shift. Parents of participants should support the program by working a shift. The shift will be scheduled around your child's challenge solution presentation. Every team is required to provide one person to work as a tournament helper. Click link below for on-line tournament helper registration.

If you would like to become a sponsor of Destination Imagination, please contact the Regional Director.  Sponsorships help us keep our tournament fees low and make the program available to more people.

Alumni

Just because you are no longer competing doesn't mean that you can't stay involved with Destination Imagination.  Because you have experience from the Team's perspective you can bring things to the table that other's can't.  Sign up to be an Appraiser.  Help with Training.  Become a Board Member and help run the tournament.  We can use your talents.  You may also want to consider joing the DI Alumni Association.

Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization. Our purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, we offer seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation.
